Creation History

The Order of the Red Banner was established in 1926 .

Initially, the order was called "For Military Valor," in 1931-1945. it was called the Order of the Red Banner for Military Valor; since 1945 it was named the Order of the Red Banner for Military Merit; since 1993 it has been called the Order of the Red Banner for Military Valor.

He was awarded soldiers, officers, political workers of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Army, the Mongolian People’s Army - military personnel, state security workers, border guards and other citizens who accomplished a feat in defending the country from aggressors and contributed to strengthening the people's revolutionary army, strengthening the defense power of their country against external and internal enemies, in the defense of the peaceful labor of the people.

The Order of the Battle Red Banner of the MPR was also awarded to individual military units, formations, military schools, industrial and administrative organizations that successfully completed special tasks of the government in increasing the military power of the MPR and strengthening the country's defense.

At different times, the award was awarded to thousands of Mongolian soldiers, fighters and commanders of the Red Army, military leaders of the Soviet army, armies of socialist countries. Those who particularly distinguished themselves in defending the MPR with the Order of the Red Banner of War were awarded twice, thrice, four times, and Marshal H. Choibalsan was awarded 5 times.

Among those who were awarded this order four times - Marshal MPR G. Damid , Colonel General J. Lhagvasuren, Major General G. Randoo, Colonel D. Nyantaysuren, three times awarded K.E. Voroshilov , Major General D. Damdinhuu, M. Zaysanov, C. Danzan, B. Shagdarzhav, Colonel M. Tsendash, one of the first Heroes of the MPR, pilot, brigade commander C. Shagdarsuren, Lieutenant Colonel V. Saaraldai.

One of the first to be awarded this order was Marshals of the Soviet Union K. E. Voroshilov and S. M. Budenny , Soviet pilots: G. A. Refshneider (1936), twice Heroes of the Soviet Union S. P. Denisov , G. P. Kravchenko , Y. V. Smushkevich . Army newspaper “Ulaan Od” (“Red Star”), the Joint Higher Military School, the Mongolian Arat Squadron, the Directorate of Border and Internal Troops of the MPR, the 44th Guards Tank Brigade “Revolutionary Mongolia” , the Mongolian Revolutionary Youth Union, 17th The army of the Soviet Army also deserved this high combat award.

L. p. badge of the Order of the Battle of the Red Banner is a convex five-pointed star, covered with red enamel. Between the ends of the star are beams of diverging rays (seven rays each). In the center of the star is a round convex shield covered with white enamel. The shield shows the sun with diverging rays. The sun is covered with yellow enamel. A convex image of the Soyombo coat of arms is superimposed on the sun.

The coat of arms is covered with white enamel, and the lotus leaves under the coat of arms are covered with green enamel. On the sides of the Soyombo emblem are two hanging red banners. Above the emblem is a five-pointed star with two fishes in the center. Fish are covered with red and white enamel. This star on the 1st version is metallic, on the 2nd - red enamel.
