Story
Glenn Quagmire introduces Peter and Joe to his father, Dan, a US Navy lieutenant . Peter and Joe initially mistaken Dan for homosexuality , but Glenn is trying to convince them of this. It soon turns out that his father is a woman in the body of a man. The next day, Peter accompanies Glenn for Dan's sex-correcting surgery , and Dan becomes an attractive blonde named Ida.
Glenn and Ida come to the Family Guy for dinner, but nobody accepts the newly made woman there. Dinner ends with a scandal. The saddened Ida sets off to seek solace in alcohol at the bar.
Meanwhile, Brian returns from New Haven , where he went for a few days to a seminar on Internet technology and writing, and in a hotel bar he meets an attractive girl Ida, with whom she has sex . A little later, he shares his success with Peter and Lois , showing them a photo in which they recognize Quagmire's former father. The couple are laughing. Brian initially does not understand this reaction, but soon Stewie explains to him that Ida is Dan Quagmire, which causes Brian to be wildly disgusted.
Gradually, the relationship between Glenn and Ida is improving, she says that she found herself a sexual partner. Learning who it is, Glenn bursts into the Family Guy’s house and beats Brian. The last words of Brian before he slams the door - “I had your dad” ( I fucked your dad ).

Criticism
Regular critics of the animated series IGN , TV Squad and AV Club took the episode positively, noting the well-written scenes between Quagmire and his father; The "gold mine" for satire, found by the creators of the cartoon; scenes with Brian [3] [4] [5] .
At the same time, the episode sharply negatively perceived the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation ( GLAAD ), in particular, for the incorrect display of transgenderism , for the caustic phrases of Peter and Lois and for the fact that Brian was sick when he found out that Ida was a former man [ 6] . Interestingly, in January 2010, the creator of "Family Guy" Seth MacFarlane spoke with representatives of the LGBT website AfterElton.com , discussing the upcoming episode of "Quagmire's Dad", which is about to be released in a few months. Then he said: “I was always upset that the gay community doesn’t really like our series. I want them to know: we are on their side. I can firmly say: the transgender community will be a very, very pretty episode about Quagmire, which will be released in a few months. Surely he will become the cutest picture of a transgender on television. ” [7]
Immediately after the episode, GLAAD decided to sue FOX [8] .
