Biography

He was born on April 26 ( May 9 according to a new style) in 1908 in the village of Karaichnoy of the Russian Empire , now Volchansky district of the Kharkov region of Ukraine , in a peasant family. Russian

Education 7 classes. He worked as a builder in Kharkov .

In the Red Army in 1930-1937 and since 1939. Until 1932, he served as a separate commander of guiding dogs in the 6th border detachment of the Leningrad Military District . In 1934 he graduated from the infantry department of the 3rd School of Border Guard and troops of the Menzhinsky OGPU . Until 1937 he served as commander of a small platoon at the outpost of the 25th border detachment.

From 1937 to 1939 he was in stock - he was treated for tuberculosis . In September 1939 he was again drafted into the army, and served as the company commander of the 600th Infantry Regiment of the 147th Infantry Division of the 18th Army with the rank of senior lieutenant. He served near the border west of the city of Stanislav (now Ivano-Frankivsk ). Here he was caught on the day of June 22, 1941.

Participated in defensive battles in the area of ​​the cities of Stanislav , Uman , Zaporozhye . Near Zaporozhye he was seriously wounded and evacuated to the hospital. Sabelnikov returned to the front in December 1941. January 2, 1942 he was awarded the title of captain. As a battalion commander of the 467th Infantry Regiment of the 216th Infantry Division of the 18th Army, he participated in the defense of Donbass . In July 1942 he was recalled from the front and from August 1 became a student of the MV Frunze Military Academy . After completing an accelerated training course, Major Sabelnikov in November 1942 was sent to the Stalingrad Front . As commander of the 1326th Infantry Regiment of the 422nd Infantry Division of the 64th Army, he participated in the encirclement and liquidation of the 6th Wehrmacht Army (operations " Uranus " and " Ring "). For the heroism shown in the Battle of Stalingrad , the 422nd Infantry Division was transformed into the 81st Guards , and Major Sabelnikov was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.

In the summer of 1943, Fyodor Sidorovich, commanding the 222nd Guards Rifle Regiment, participated in the Battle of Kursk . For the skillful command of the unit in the battles for Belgorod, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star. Major Sabelnikov was especially distinguished in the battle for the Dnieper .

On the night of September 25, 1943, the commander of the 222nd Guards Rifle Regiment of the Guard, Major Sabelnikov, was the first in the division to skillfully organize the crossing of the Dnieper with improvised means at the turn of the villages of New Orlik - Borodaevka ( Verkhnedneprovsky district of the Dnipropetrovsk region ). The regiment captured a bridgehead 4 kilometers deep and 2 kilometers along the front, inflicting heavy damage on the enemy, which contributed to forcing the river to the rest of the division. On October 23, 1943, F. S. Sabelnikov was promoted to lieutenant colonel in the guard, and on October 26, 1943, by a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

In December 1943, during the battles in the Krivoy Rog direction, Fyodor Sidorovich suffered a relapse of tuberculosis. He was withdrawn to the reserve of the 2nd Ukrainian Front , and then he was treated in a hospital and sanatorium for a whole year.

Colonel Sabelnikov returned to the guard service on January 25, 1945 and was appointed commander of the 104th Guards Regiment of the 36th Guards Rifle Division of the 7th Guards Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front. He fought on the territory of Hungary , Czechoslovakia and Austria . Under Esztergom was wounded in the arm, but remained in service. For the skillful leadership of the regiment in the battles for Budapest and Bratislava, he was awarded the Order of Suvorov 3rd degree. Victory Day met on the river Mur in Austria.

At the final stage of World War II, F. S. Sabelnikov took part in the defeat of the Kwantung Army in the Far East , being an assistant to the representative of the Military Council of the Trans-Baikal Front at the headquarters of the group of forces of the Mongolian People's Republic .

After the war, since 1946, Lieutenant Colonel F. S. Sabelnikov worked as a military commissar of the Molotov RVC in the city of Grozny . In this position, he worked for less than a year. Tuberculosis worsened again and on March 17, 1947, Hero of the Soviet Union Fedor Sidorovich Sabelnikov died.

He was buried at the Central cemetery in Grozny. The grave is a monument of regional importance. According to data from 2010, it is in unsatisfactory condition [1] .
