Located on the Monok River, the right tributary of the Abakan River , in the taiga area. Nearest train station Askiz Station - 62 km.
The population is 220 people (01/01/2004), all Khakasses .
Small Monok was built in 1870 by the indigenous people who came here, crowded by Cossacks . The main occupations of the local population were cattle breeding , agriculture , and hunting . Later on the river. Monok began to settle Russian immigrants, forming with. Pokrovka. In 1954, Maly Monok and the village of Pokrovka were merged into one settlement. Maly Monok was previously a division of the Bondarevsky state farm. There is an elementary school, library, first-aid post.
