Biography
Meer Melman was born in Zholkva (now Lviv region ) on January 3, 1900 .
In 1936, he married actress Ida Kaminska . In 1939, the family of actors lived in Lvov [1] , after the German attack on the Soviet Union in 1941, in Frunze (Kyrgyzstan) [1] . Since 1946 - in Poland . Actor of the Jewish theater in Lodz (from 1948 to 1953), also the administrator of the theater [2] , in Wroclaw (from 1953 to 1555), and after moving the theater to Warsaw , from 1955 - an actor of the State Jewish Theater of Warsaw. Kaminsky. In the 1950s-1960s, along with the theater performances, was on tour in many countries.
In 1964 he was awarded the medal "For merits in culture." In 1968 he emigrated from Poland to the United States with his wife, known [to whom? ] actress Ida Kaminsky, her daughter from her first marriage, Ruth Kaminsky, and other actors. In 1975-1977 the Melman-Kaminsky family lived in Israel . Since 1977 in New York [3] . The son of M. Melman and I. Kaminsky is Victor Melman [3] .
