Martin, Brian (sled)

Brian Martin ( born Brian Martin ; January 19, 1974 , Palo Alto , USA ) is an American sleigh rider who played for the US team from 1994 to 2010. He took part in four Winter Olympics and won two medals, the bronze of the 1998 games in Nagano and the silver of the 2002 games in Salt Lake City - both in men's doubles. Throughout almost his entire career, he has been paired with Mark Grimmett .

Brian Martin has won nine World Championship medals and has two silver awards (mixed teams: 2004, 2005) and seven bronze medals (doubles: 1999, 2000, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2009; mixed teams: 2001). Three times he won the World Cup overall standings; the seasons 1997-1998, 1998-1999 and 2002-2003 became the most successful for him.

He ended his career as a professional athlete in 2010, immediately after the Olympic Games in Vancouver, officially announcing this on March 17th. Before going in for sledding, he worked as a private bodyguard, now lives in the city of Palo Alto , and in his free time he does surfing and snowboarding.
