It is a flexure (knee-shaped kink) step (Kuten-Bulukskaya), separated by the Belelik and Azyrtal faults. Composed by Cambrian dark-colored limestones . The length is more than 40 km, almost in a sub-latitudinal direction. Peaks with the highest absolute elevations from 950 to 1142 m ( Birch Mountain ) stand out against the general background of domed hills. The slopes are steep - up to 300, asymmetric, covered with birch-larch forest. At the tops of individual hills, bedrocks emerge on the surface in the form of outliers. Uplands are divided by wide logs. At the foot of the northern slope, the Bolshaya Erba , Bolshaya Tes (in the lower reaches of the Tes ) begin to flow; the southern slope is the Koksa River. The river valleys are U-shaped.
