Scott Ashton ( born Scott "Rock Action" Asheton ; August 16, 1949 - March 15, 2014 ) is an American drummer . Best known as the drummer of the rock band The Stooges .

In 1967, Scott, together with his brother Ron , James Osterberg, and Dave Alexander formed the Stooges. The original lineup released two LPs on Elektra Records . After the line-up changed, the band released their third LP, “ Raw Power, ” and broke up in 1976 .
Scott played with Iggy Pop on his 1978 European tour. [2] He also worked in several groups with Scott Morgan, most notably the Sonic's Rendezvous Band [3] .
Scott also played with Destroy All Monsters under the pseudonym Dark Carnival. [4] Also, Scott recorded with Sonny Vincent on all four studio albums. [ whom? ] . As part of the Devil Dogs , Scott performed at concerts in Europe and the United States.
In 2003, The Stooges reunited and in 2007 released their fourth studio album, The Weirdness .
