Professional career
In an interview, Dmitry Kostin spoke about the origin of his nickname: some of his friends believed that he looked unhappy. Therefore, he chose a nickname that would refute this ( Eng. Happy - happiness, joy) [2] .
According to Kostin himself, the desire to win tournaments took shape closer to 2006, although before that he had been playing Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne for some time [2] . Due to age restrictions, Kostin could not participate in some major tournaments, in particular at World Cyber Games , until 2007-2008. However, this was not a limitation in online tournaments. So, he participated in several Incups - in the final of the spring season of 2006, he took second place, defeating SoJu, SaSe and Satiini along the way of then-famous cybersportsmen and losing to the Check in the final [3] . In the final season of the 2006-2007 winter season, he reached the semifinals, where he lost to Park Chun (“Lyn”) and Rob [4] .
Kostin was a qualifier for Battle.net Season 4, but did not participate in them. Also, for various reasons (in particular, due to the lack of a visa) other Russian e-sportsmen were not able to take part in that tournament, including Andrei “Deadman” Sobolev and Mikhail “Xyligan” Ryabkov [5] .
Dmitry Kostin fought against Mikhail Novopashin (“HoT”) in the WC3L King of the Hill tournament ( Eng. - “King of the Hill”), but lost 3-0 [6] [7] .
He was accepted into the Russian national team without qualifiers in the European Nations Championship 2007 national tournament. He also passed the qualifiers for the 15th season of Clanbase Eurocup [8] , but lost to SaSe and Tresh in the Play-Off stage. He participated in the Russian qualifiers ESWC 2007 [9] , taking them 4th place. At the Russian qualifiers for Extreme Masters II and at the qualifiers for the LAN-finals of this tournament, he did not lose a single game [10] [11] . In the finals of this tournament, he took 6th place, losing to Joan Merlot ("ToD"), But Dzheuku ("Lucifer") and Manuel Schenkhuyzenu ("Grubby") [12] . At the European qualifiers for the Blizzard 2008 Tournament Dmitry Kostin took first place [13] , at the same tournament he took third place, losing to Pedro Duran (“Lucifron”) and Jeong Paku (“Lyn”) [14] .
Kostin first participated in the WCG in 2008, where he won first place in online Russian qualifiers, but lost to Sting in the Russian final [15] , failing to get a quota for the Grand Final. However, due to a visa problem with Sting and other players, the quota was nevertheless given to Dmitry, and he went to the Grand Final, where he took 3rd place. A year later, at the WCG 2009 tournament, he took 4th place. In 2010, he was supposed to take part in the BlizzCon 2010 tournament, but could not do this because of problems with the aircraft [16] .
During the Russian WCG 2010 final, Dmitry Kostin said that he would try to play professionally in StarCraft II [17] . At the ASUS Spring 2011 championship, he took second place [18] . At the championship, DreamHack Summer 2011 could not leave the group, losing to HayprO, MaNa and Bomber [19] . He won first place at the 2011 Russian WCG qualifiers for Starcraft II [20] .
Commands
Before joining mousesports, Dmitry Kostin played in the Russian team es4x, which broke up, failing to qualify in the regular season [2] . The first professional Happy team was mousesports , in which he was two years old [21] . He played in it together with players such as ToD, TH000 and Fly100%. After leaving mouz, he played for MeetYourMakers for about a month, but due to the collapse of the latter, he was left without a team. After some time, Kostin joined the Evil Geniuses team, where he played a little less than a year. Until October 2014, he was a member of the Empire team.
