Biography
Jacques of Savoy proved himself during the siege of Lance and Metz (1552-1553), at the Battle of Renti (1554) and the campaign in Piedmont (1555).
He was a supporter of the Guise and as a result of the conspiracy was forced for some time to retire to Savoy . Upon his return to France, Jacques fought with the Huguenots and was noted for success in Dauphine and Lyonne. In 1564, his county of Geneva was elevated to the rank of duchy.
In 1567, Jacques of Savoy convinced the court to return from Mo to Paris, took part in the battle of Saint-Denis , protested against peace in Longjumeau, repelled the invasion of Wolfgang , the Zweibrücken pfalzgraph .
The last years of his life he devoted letters and art and died in Annecy .
