Parechoviruses [2] ( lat. Parechovirus ) - a genus of viruses from the family of picornaviruses ( Picornaviridae ). It was allocated by the International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) in 1996 [3] , and was named in 1997 [4] .

The virion is icosahedral , has no shell, a diameter of about 30 nm. Genomic RNA single-stranded, positive polarity, encodes 12 proteins . Viruses are tropic to many cells of the body, especially to enterocytes . The most common manifestation of an infection is gastroenteritis . The main risk group for contracting parachovirus infection are children under the age of 5 years. More than 95% of people become infected with human parachovirus at an early age, from two to five years [5] [6] .
Classification
Representatives of the genus parehoviruses were originally classified as 2 species Human echovirus 22 and Human echovirus 23 from the genus Enterovirus . In 1999, they were combined into the species Human parechovirus [7] . In 2002, a second type of Ljungan virus was registered [8] , and in 2014, both species were renamed Parechovirus A and Parechovirus B, respectively [9] . In 2016, 2 more species were described: Parechovirus C and Parechovirus D [10] .
According to ICTV, as of March 2017, 4 species are included in the genus [11] :
- Parechovirus A [ syn. Human echovirus 22, Human echovirus 23, Human parechovirus ]
- Parechovirus B [syn. Ljungan virus ]
- Parechovirus c
- Parechovirus d
