Biography
Born in 1915 in Omsk, Akmola region .
In 1929, his family joined the collective farm "Experience" of the Serebryakovsky village council of the Ulyanovsk region. Studied in the winter, worked in the collective farm in the summer. In 1931 he graduated from the 7th grade of the 3rd railway school and began to study at the steam locomotive-car repair plant in the school of FZU . After graduating in 1933, he worked as a turner for metal.
A great desire to fly led to the Omsk flying club, where he graduated from the pilot's school and the school of parachutists, without interruption from production. In 1937, Bernikov was called up for active service in the Red Army. He studied at the training squad of the air brigade. In 1940 he graduated from the Novosibirsk Military Aviation Pilot School. Participated in hostilities on the Leningrad, Kalinin, Voronezh, 1st and 2nd Ukrainian fronts. He was a flight commander, squadron commander. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1940 .
Squadron commander of the 809th assault aviation regiment (5th Air Army of the 2nd Ukrainian Front), Major Bernikov, by the end of the war, completed 97 sorties, destroyed 15 tanks, 2 aircraft, more than 40 cars, 15 artillery pieces, a lot of other equipment and live enemy forces.
In 1952 he graduated from the Higher Flight Tactical Courses, until 1957 he served in the USSR Air Force.
Since 1957, Lieutenant Colonel M. M. Bernikov is in stock. He lived in Zaporozhye , worked at the Zaporizhstal plant as a senior foreman of the workshop. He took an active part in public life. [one]
