Nikolai Vladimir Kulemin (born July 14, 1986 , Magnitogorsk ) is a Russian professional hockey player . Former player of the Russian national team , right forward of the KHL club Metallurg Magnitogorsk. Honored Master of Sports of Russia (2012).

Career
Metallurg Magnitogorsk
A pupil of the hockey school of HC Metallurg. He made his debut for the main part of Metallurg in the 2005/2006 season and was recognized as the best rookie of the season . In the second season in Magnitogorsk, he scored 27 goals in 54 games and scored 39 points. Following the results of the regular Championship of Russia, Kulemin was recognized as the head coach of the teams the best player and received the Golden Stick prize. In the same year, Metallurg became the champion of Russia, defeating Kazan Ak Bars in 5 matches (3: 2) in the final of the playoffs , and Nikolai scored 4 goals in the final series. The following year, Metallurg could not defend the title, losing in the semifinals to Yaroslavl Lokomotiv in 3 matches, and Kulemin scored 4 points in 11 playoff matches (2 goals and 2 assists).
Toronto Maple Leafs
In the NHL draft in 2006, he was selected in the second round under the 44th number. The rights to the player received the team “ Toronto Maple Leafs ”.
On May 25, 2007, Kulemin signed a 3-year contract with Toronto. [1] In his first season in the NHL, he played on the same level as Mikhail Grabovsky and Niklas Hagman . Toward the end of the season, instead of Hagman, Alexei Ponikarovsky played, who helped Nikolai not only gain points, but also get comfortable in Canada. Kulemin threw his first goal in the NHL in his first match against Chris Osgood in the match against Detroit Red Wings on October 9, 2008, and the “maple leaves” won 3-2.
On July 2, 2010, Toronto extended the contract with the forward for 2 years by $ 4.7 million. [2] In the 2010/11 season, Kulemin became the second player from Russia to manage to score 30 goals for Maple Leafs after Alexander Mogilny .
July 20, 2012 extended the contract with the Canadian club for another 2 years with a salary of $ 2.8 million per season. [3]
During a lockout in the NHL, he returned to Magnitogorsk and, playing on the same level as Evgeni Malkin and Sergei Mozyakin , scored 38 points (14 + 24) in 36 games.
After finishing the lockout and returning to Toronto for 2 seasons, he scored only 16 goals and scored 43 points.
New York Islanders
After 6 years as part of the Toronto Maple Leafs, on July 2, 2014 he signed a 4-year contract with New York Islanders in the amount of $ 16.75 million.
