History
Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine appeared in the summer of 1989 and until January 2009 was published by Ziff Davis and was part of 1UP.com . Since April 2010, the publication of the magazine was resumed by EGM Media, LLC and now comes in two versions: the usual, printed version, which is published once a month and digital, which is published once a week. The magazine issues 12 issues a year (occasionally, on Christmas, the 13th issue comes out).
In December 2006, the magazine changed its logo, new headings and expanded reviews appeared. In 1994, the magazine acquired an application called EGM2 , which was largely devoted to game secrets and walkthroughs.
EGM was discontinued on January 6, 2009, after the 1UP.com website was acquired by Hearts Corporation . It was then announced that the January issue of EGM would be the last. On May 29, 2009, the founder of the magazine, Steve Harris, announced that he had acquired the rights to publish the magazine electronically and in print, and that the magazine would continue in the second half of 2009. The February 2009 issue, which was not released, subsequently became the first issue to be released on the ScreenPaper digital platform in March 2010. The first, printed issue of the magazine came out in April 2010, with the original logo and images of Ryu and Ken, characters in the Street Fighter game series. The first issue of the weekly EGMi in digital format was released on April 27, 2010, and the main theme of the issue was dedicated to the game series “ Final Fantasy ”.
