A priest ( dr. Greek Ὁ Ἱερομάρτυρας , lat. Sanctus martyr ) is a martyr among those ordained as bishop , priest or deacon who suffered for his confession of Jesus Christ [1] .
The difference between the holy martyr and the martyr is the presence of the first holy dignity. Holy martyrs do not constitute a special face of saints and are commemorated at the liturgy together with other martyrs. In Orthodoxy, at the proskomedia, for them, as well as for other martyrs, the fifth particle is taken out of the ninefold prosphora .
