Biography

Mauritius Felixovich Bertier (Berthe Morillac) was born in 1799. His father, belonging to the French nobility, was forced to emigrate from France to Russia in connection with revolutionary events , where he took the oath of allegiance. Wanting to see his son in the ranks of the Russian army, Felix Berthier in 1818 identified him as a cunker in the Life Guards of Ulan, His Imperial Highness Heir Tsesarevich Regiment , where Mauritius Bertier was soon made for his zeal and excellent knowledge of the service in a military cadet, in the next 1819 - to cornet , and in 1823 - to lieutenants .

In this rank, Maurice Feliksovich participated in the campaigns of 1830 and 1831 against the insurgent Poles , and, for differences in military affairs, he was awarded the Order of St. April 9, 1831 . In 1843 he commanded a division. From September 20, 1844, Berthier commanded the Mitava Hussars .

On October 8, 1847, Berthier was appointed commander of the Life Guards of His Majesty's Ulan Regiment ; on December 6, 1847, he was promoted to the rank of Major General .

He died on January 12, 1849 in Wilkomir ( Poland ), was excluded from the lists on January 14.

He was buried at the Robey Church of Novgorod County.
