Biography
He graduated from the Far Eastern Tank School with honors (1960-1963), the Military Academy of Armored Forces named after Marshal of the Soviet Union R. Y. Malinovsky (1970-1973), the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces named after K. E. Voroshilov (1980-1982).
He served as commander of a training platoon, company commander, deputy commander of a training battalion (1963-1970), deputy commander (1973-1974) and commander (1974-1978) of the regiment, commander of a tank division (1978-1980), chief of staff of the 40th Army in Afghanistan (1982-1986).
From February 1986 to June 1987 he was the commander of the 14th Guards Combined Arms Army in the Odessa Military District , the chief of staff of the Odessa Military District (June 1987 - August 1991), the commander of the Volga-Ural Military District (September 1, 1991 - July 7, 1992), Commander of the Volga Military District (July 7, 1992 - March 24, 2001). Since 2002, retired.
Chairman of the Samara Regional Public Organization of the Committee of Veterans of War and Military Service.
