Noma Literary Prize

Noma Literary Prize ( 野 間 文 芸 賞 Noma Bungei Shё:) is a Japanese literary prize awarded to the author of an art , literary or journalistic work published in a newspaper, magazine or as a separate book in the reporting year. Awarded annually since 1941 in accordance with the testament of Seiji Noma , founder of the Kodansya publishing house. Initially, the prize was awarded to the author for his contribution to Japanese literature. In the period from 1946 to 1952, the prize was not awarded. After the renewal of the award in 1953, the appointment of the prize changed, as a result of which it acquired the meaning that remains to this day: for an outstanding literary work. In non-Japanese literature, the erroneous name of the prize is widespread: the Hiroshi Noma Prize.
