Similicaudipteryx ( lat. , From lat. Similis - similar and Caudipteryx - the genus of dinosaurs, literally - similar to caudipteryx) - the genus of dinosaurs - theropods from the family Caudipteridae of the oviraptorosaurus infraorder (Oviraptorosauria). The remains were discovered in the formations of Jiufotan (Pinyin. Jiufotang ) and Yixian (Pinyin. Yixian ) in Northeast China , which date from the middle of the Aptian - the beginning of the Albanian century of the Lower Cretaceous era , 120-112 million years ago. The name Similicaudipteryx yixianensis was given in 2008 by paleontologists He ( He ), Wang ( Wang ) and Zhou ( Zhou ). It indicates similarities with Caudipteryx , which was also found in the Yixian formation.
