Biography
Julius Karasik was born on August 24, 1923 in the city of Kherson, Ukrainian SSR .
In 1942-1946 - cadet of the Tashkent Higher Combined-Arms Command School named after V.I. Lenin ( Uzbek SSR ).
He studied at the philological faculty of the Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute named after A. I. Herzen , at the acting school at the Lenfilm (workshop of I. E. Heifits and A. G. Zarkhi ).
In 1951 he graduated from the directing department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) (course of S. A. Gerasimov and T. F. Makarova ), then worked at the Sverdlovsk Film Studio and at the Lenfilm .
Julius Karasik was the art director at the Higher Courses of Scriptwriters and Directors (VKSR) in Moscow .
Member of the CPSU since 1953 [3] .
He died on January 23, 2005 . He was buried in Moscow at the Troekurovsky cemetery (plot number 5).
Personal life
Julius Karasik was married twice.
The first wife is Lyubov Aleksandrovna Tsvetkova, a teacher. Their daughter Natasha graduated from the VGIK film science department.
The second wife (the marriage was not registered) - Elena Fedorovna Kulevskaya, gave birth to two children: Maria Yulievna Karasik (born 1966) and Mikhail Yulievich Karasik (born 1969) .

- 1968 - special award of the international jury of film authors at the XVI International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary ( Czechoslovakia ) for the truthful, dramatic reflection of the most important historical events in the film " July Sixth " [6] .
- 1970 - diploma of the USSR State Committee for Cinematography and the Union of USSR Filmmakers at the IV All-Union Film Festival (VKF) in Minsk - for ideological and artistic merits and great success with the audience of the film " The Sixth of July " [6] .
- 1973 - special prize “Silver Hugo” at the IX International Film Festival in Chicago ( USA ) - for the best adaptation of the classic work and the mastery of the acting ensemble (the film “The Seagull” ) [7] .
