Club career
Rangers
Wilson is a graduate of the Scottish Rangers Club. Before being transferred to the first team, “Jersey” in 2008 was the captain of the youth team of the Glagow club [6] . At the same time, the country's journalists predicted a great future for Wilson, comparing his game with the style of speeches by the famous defender of the national team of Scotland Alan Hansen [6] . In his first “adult” season in the Rangers, Danny never appeared on the field, even though he was often included in the game application. Before the 2008/09 Scottish Cup finals , in which the Jersey met with Falkirk , the head coach of the Glazow team, Walter Smith announced his desire to release Wilson as a substitute in the event of a successful folding match. The fight turned out to be very hard and tense for both teams, the Rangers won 1: 0 in a bitter struggle, and Danny was left on the bench again [7] .
Wilson's debut as part of the Rangers took place on October 27, 2009 in the League Cup match, where Jersey beat opponents from Dundee with a score of 3: 1 [8] . A week later, Danny became the youngest player in the history of the Glazgovs, who played in the European Cup meeting - on November 4, at the time of his entering the field in the Champions League match against the Romanian Uniri , Wilson was 17 years old and 312 days old [6] [9] [10] . On March 27, 2010, Danny scored his first goal in the Jersey team - this happened in the Scottish Premier League Hart of Midlothian vs. Rangers [11] .
By the end of the 2009/10 season, Wilson won a place in the main line-up of the Glagow team, where he made a pair of central defenders with club captain David Weir [6] . At the end of the same football year, the Rangers defended the title of champion of Scotland [12] and won the League Cup [13] (in the final match of this tournament against St. Mirren , Danny was sent off the field [14] ). One of the important roles in this is exactly Danny. Considering these achievements, as well as noting the undoubted talent of the young player, fellow football players recognized Wilson as the “ Best Young Player of the Year ” [15] [16] [17] . According to journalists, Danny also won the vote for the prize of the Young Player of the Season [18] . Fans of the Rangers appreciated his contribution to the overall victory of the club - Wilson became the “Best Young Player” “Jersey” in the 2009/10 season according to the fans [19] .
Liverpool
At the beginning of April 2010, the desire to acquire a talented football player was expressed by the English Liverpool , while in the Rangers, in turn, announced that Wilson would soon be offered a new contract [20] . On May 8, reports appeared in the press that Danny had rejected a proposal to extend the current contract with Jersey, citing the desire to move to the Reds camp. Liverpool immediately made the Rangers a Wilson proposal in the amount of £ 2 million, which suited the Glazers. [21] May 9 it became known that the amount of the transaction amounted to 2.5 million pounds [22] . The official announcement of the transfer was postponed for some time, but on July 20 both clubs confirmed that all the conditions had been agreed, and Danny would soon arrive in England to sign the contract [23] . On July 21, Wilson officially became a Liverpool player, signing a 3-year cooperation agreement with the Reds [24] [25] . In the new team, Danny took the shirt with the number "22" [26] .
The beginning of the 2010/11 season Wilson spent in the reserve of the "red". On October 20, the young defender scored his first goal for Liverpool doublers, hitting the Blackburn Rovers gate [27] . The Scottish debut in the first composition of the Reds took place on September 22 in the match of the Third Round of the League Cup , in which the Wilson club sensationally lost in the post-match penalty shootout to the representative of the Second English League , Northampton Town [28] [29] [30] . On February 17, the Scotsman held a full match in the Europa League with Prague Sparta [31] [32] and received praise from Liverpool mentor Kenny Dalglish for his game [33] . On February 27, 2011, Danny made his debut in the English Premier League , having played a full match against West Ham United [34] [35] . Wilson played the next meeting for the Mercy Sides on March 17 , taking part in the Europa League duel with the Portuguese Braga [36] . Until the end of the 2010/11 season, Danny played in the Reds for just one more match, entering the field instead of injured teammate Daniel Agger at the West Bromwich Albion Premier League meeting Liverpool [37] .
On October 18, 2011, Wilson took part in a friendly match in which the current and former Scottish teams met - the team against Enfield and Rangers, respectively [38] .
Blackpool
On December 31, 2011, the Liverpool press service spread the news that Wilson, on the first day of 2012 under a rental agreement, will go to the club of the Blackpool Championship by the end of the 2011/12 season [39] [40] [41] . On January 7, Danny first defended the colors of the “tangerines” in an official match - on that day, in the framework of the Third Round of the FA Cup , the Scottish team defeated Fleetwood Town with a score of 5: 1 [42] .
Bristol City
On November 22, 2012, Wilson was again leased by Liverpool - this time the Bristol City team became the Scottish new temporary employer. The term of the loan agreement was concluded for a period of two months [43] [44] [45] . Danny played just one match for the “robins” when he came on as a substitute for a meeting with Middlesbrough on November 24 [46] .
Hart of Midlothian
On January 18, 2013, Wilson was rented to the Scottish Hart of Midlothian [47] . The very next day, Danny made his debut in the Edinburgh , playing a full match against Celtic [48] [49] .
Return to the Rangers
In June 2015, Wilson returned to Ibrox, signing a three-year contract. [50]
Colorado Rapids
In January 2018, Wilson joined the MLS Colorado Rapids Club [51] .
