Niederhnhuber, Barbara

Barbara Niederhnhuber ( German: Barbara Niedernhuber , June 6, 1974 , Berchtesgaden , Germany ) is a German sled who played for the German national team from 1994 to 2006. She took part in two Winter Olympic Games, in Nagano (1998) and in Salt Lake City (2002), where she won silver medals in single women's races.

Barbara Niedernhuber received the World Championship podium seven times, on her track record is one gold medal (2004), four silver (1999, 2000, 2004, 2005) and two bronze (2001, 2003). In addition, the athlete was awarded three times with bronze medals of the European Championships - in 2000, 2002 and 2006. In the 2004-2005 season, Niederhnuber won the World Cup overall standings. The decision to end her sports career was made just before the start of the 2006–2007 sled season, mainly due to a serious ankle injury.

The athlete is mentioned in the episode " The Bart of War " of the animated series " The Simpsons ", in one of the scenes Milhouse says that she feels like "a silver medalist in luge" Barbara Niederhnuber.
