Features
The length of the bridge is 377 m, the width of the carriageway is 9 m, and there is no pedestrian part. [1] The bridge consists of 7 barges [2] and has been in operation since 1993. [1] The bridge is built at water marks from 64 to 66 m according to the Baltic system . [1] [3] Due to the high water in the flood of 2012, the bridge was built only on June 19. [4] [5]
According to 2007 data, 70% of the flow of vehicles falls on the Borsk direction. [6] During the repair of the Borsky bridge, the duration of the Volga bridge could exceed 12 hours per day. [6]
In 2011, the duration of traffic on the bridge was 6.5 hours daily. [7] Opening hours on pre-holiday and public holidays were determined by additional approvals. [7] The Volga State Budgetary Institution was empowered with the right to quickly build a bridge for passing passenger ships that were out of schedule according to weather conditions, and emergency rescue vessels. [7] In 2012, after the opening of the Nizhny Novgorod cableway , the duration of the movement of vehicles did not change. [4] [5]
Service History
In the winter of 2004-2005, the underwater part was replaced at two barges [8] , the repair cost amounted to 8 million rubles. [2] By this time, the age of barges exceeded 30 years. [2] In the winter of 2005-2006, 4 more barges were repaired, the cost of work amounted to 29 million rubles. [eight]
During the forest fires of 2010, the dry-cargo vessel “Narva” of project 613 [9] damaged the right-bank non-movable section of the bridge. [10] Also upon impact, damage to the automotive clutch device between the barges of the bridge and the transitional part occurred. [11] It took one month to repair: a hole was fixed, the hinge assemblies and the automatic coupler were replaced. [12] The insurance payment amounted to 4 million rubles. [13]
In the winter of 2011-2012, work was done to repair the hull, flyover of the roadway, deck, mechanisms, equipment and electrical equipment of the bridge. [four]
On the night of August 16, 2012, the OT-7 pusher, traveling from Kolesnikovo to Yaroslavl with two gas oil barges weighing 14 thousand tons, crashed into a floating bridge, damaging one section. After that, the Sormovsky raid was sent to the backwater, where it collided with another ship. [14] [15]
In 2016, the bridge began work on May 20. The bridge was reduced daily from 6 to 9 in the morning and from 17 to 22.30 in the evening. Access for cars was open from 06:30 to 08:30 and from 17:30 to 22:00. [16] In July, the pontoon bridge was used to close the movement of ships during the Volzhsky Challenge mass swim. [17]
On August 1, 2016, the pontoon bridge was closed due to the construction of approaches to the new Bor Bridge. [18]
Pontoon Bridge over the Oka
The first floating pontoon bridge in the history of Nizhny Novgorod was built at the beginning of the 19th century. The bridge connected the upland and riverine parts of the city at the confluence of the Oka and Volga rivers. [nineteen]
Decades after the closure of the Nizhny Novgorod Fair, a small pontoon bridge across the Grebnevsky Canal made it possible to use the Grebnevsky Sands as a city beach.
In 2010, the option of building an automobile bridge over the Oka and Grebnevsky Canals within the boundaries of Nizhny Novgorod between the metro and Kanavinsky bridges in the alignment of Sovetskaya and Chernigovskaya Streets [20] was considered . The decision to build was made by the administration of Nizhny Novgorod in May 2010, after partial closure for the reconstruction of the Kanavinsky bridge . The construction of the bridge was canceled due to the refusal of a complete reconstruction of the Kanavinsky bridge.
The bridge was planned in three-lane with car and pedestrian traffic with the ability to work both in summer and winter. [20] The width of the Oka River at the site of the proposed guidance is 515 m, the channel 130 m. The construction period is 3-4 months, the cost of the bridge is 250 million rubles. [20] On May 26, 2010, Vadim Bulavinov announced that the construction of a new bridge is necessary due to the fact that not one of the ready-made pontoon bridges for the Oka River "can be coordinated with any inspection."
