Fiat 132 / Argenta

Fiat 132 is a large family car manufactured by Fiat from 1972 to 1981. An updated version of the model called Fiat Argenta was produced from 1981 to 1985. This model was Fiat's latest rear-wheel-drive mass model.

Description

Model 132 was introduced as a replacement for the Fiat 125 , but looked externally as a more expensive option - the Fiat 130 .

Unlike the 125 , the 132 model was equipped with a 5-speed gearbox (standard for some countries and as an option for others) [1] GM's Turbo-Hydramatic 180 automatic gearbox was also available as an option. [2]

In January 1974, the car underwent modernization. The front suspension has been substantially redesigned due to poor handling. [1] Together with the new suspension, the car received new shock absorbers. [3] 1,600 cc engine see remained unchanged, while the engine capacity of 1800 cubic meters. see the cylinder head and carburetor were finalized, which increased power to 107 hp [3] . Inside, the changes touched the steering wheel design, heating and ventilation controls. [3]

Fiat Argenta (1981-86)

The second major modernization of the 132 model was in 1981, and received a new name - Fiat Argenta. The changes affected the appearance, wheels, dashboard, mirrors and headlights.

Engines were installed on Argenta (depending on the region):

On some injection models there was an electronic ignition.

In 1984, face lifting model was made. The grille was updated, on which the new Fiat logo with five inclined dashes began to show off, a stabilizer bar on the rear axle appeared. The front axle became wider by 40 mm, new wheels appeared.

New engines also appeared: the first Fiat turbodiesel engine with a capacity of 2.5 liters., 90 hp, and for the Argenta VX model - an engine with a supercharger of 135 hp, based on the engine from Lancia Volumex models.

The car was produced until 1986. To replace him came Fiat Croma .
