Biography
Born on April 3, 1918 in the village of Velikaya Viska .
In 1929, parents with four children moved to Donbass, to the mine village 18 of the city of Snezhnoye, Donetsk region , he studied right there, got secondary education, graduating from 10 classes of the school. After he worked at the mine. In 1937 he entered the Chuguev Military Aviation School [4] , after which he worked as an flight instructor.
Participation in the Great Patriotic War
Member of the Great Patriotic War since May 1942 . Participated in battles in the Kharkov region . On July 14, 1942 , over the village of Gusinka, the Kupyansky district, took the battle with two enemy fighters ( ME-109 ). One Zherdiy Evgeny Nikolaevich shot down, but the ammunition ran out, and he decided to go on a ram . Having rammed the second fighter, the Pole managed to leave his fighter, which lost control and began to fall, but did not manage to open its parachute.
During the month of fighting in the Kharkiv region, Lieutenant Zherdy E. N. made 75 sorties, in which he personally shot down 4 enemy fighters, destroyed dozens of tanks, guns and other equipment, as well as hundreds of enemy soldiers and officers.

Evgeny Zherdy was buried in the square of the collective farm named after Frunze s. Doroshivka, Monachinovsky s / s, Kupyansky district, Kharkov region [5] .
