Notable Facts

  • Mark Selby in the 1/8 final game against Stephen Hendry broke two records at once, which until now belonged to Hendry himself: firstly, he made 6 century breaks in one match - the highest figure in the history of Crucible (Stephen made 5 hundred episodes in World Cup Final 1997 ); secondly, Selby brought the number of centre-breaks for one season to 53 and thus blocked Hendry's achievement of 52 hundred ( 1995/96 season ). In addition, in the same match, Mark won the frame from a position in which he needed 4 snookers, which is a rather rare event.
  • Ronnie O'Sullivan in the match 1 / 16th made his 100th Century Break at the World Championships.
  • In the final stage of the championship, 2 tournament debutants played: Jimmy Robertson and Andrew Pagett . Both of them lost in the 16th.
  • For the first time in a long time, there was no separate prize for the maximum break in the championship. Now for the performance of the maximum was provided only a standard reward for the highest series.
  • Mark Williams for the first time since 2003 reached the semifinals of the championship.
  • Ding Junhui for the first time in his career overcame the 1/8 finals of the tournament. He reached the quarter-finals, beating Stuart Binham with a score of 13:12, after a lag of 9:12. Dean later reached the semi-finals, becoming only the third player from Asia to achieve such a result.
  • Judd Trump became the youngest participant in the finals since 1990 .
  • John Higgins won the final frame of the finals after he needed snooker.
  • The highest break of the main stage of the tournament - only 138 points - was the lowest since 1987 .
  • 35-year-old Higgins, having won this tournament, became the oldest champion in the past 25 years.
