Mainstream records

Mainstream Records is an American record label founded in 1964 by Bob Shed [1] and based in New York, on Broadway [2] . At first, the label specialized in jazz releases, as well as re-releases of Commodore Records and Time Records [3] . In 1967, the label released the first album of the rock band Big Brother & the Holding Company ; the first records of The Amboy Dukes were released here, the guitarist of which Ted Nugent became famous in the 1970s [2] . Mainstream also served as a distributor for its Flying Dutchman Records affiliate. The label continued to release soundtracks and works by contemporary jazz artists in the 1970s; in 1978, he ceased to exist.
