Andrei Vadimovich Smirnov (born May 12, 1958 , Moscow , USSR ) - Soviet and Russian philosopher , Doctor of Philosophy (1998), professor, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Social Sciences (2006), academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Social Sciences (2016) . Research interests: logical and semantic research and comparative philosophy. A specialist in the history of classical Arab philosophy.

Biography
He graduated from the Institute of Asian and African countries at Moscow State University (1981). In 1986-1989 he studied at the correspondence graduate school of the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR ; in 1989 he defended his thesis on "Philosophy of Ibn Arabi (1165-1240)", in 1998 - his doctoral dissertation "Procedures for the formation of meaning in medieval Arab-Muslim philosophy."
Since 1988, she has been working at the Institute of Philosophy: since 2008 - the head of the philosophy sector of the Islamic world, since December 22, 2015 - the director of the Institute. Head of the Department of Oriental Studies, Faculty of Philosophy, GAUGN . Academician-Secretary of the Department of Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (since 2017).
In 2010, he participated in the examination of the school course " Fundamentals of religious cultures and secular ethics " [1] .
Editor-in-chief of the Philosophical Journal ; Member of the editorial board of publications: “ Questions of Philosophy ”, “ East ”, “ Islamic Studies ”, “ Journal of the Siberian Federal University . Series: Humanities. " It is part of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation (since 2019).
May 16, 2019 by the General Meeting of the Russian Philosophical Society elected president of the RFO.
