S-tog

S-tog ( Danish - “S-trains”) or S-banen (S-railway) - a system of suburban-urban trains of the Copenhagen agglomeration, including Hillerød , Klampenborg , Frederiksssunn , Farum , Höe Tostrup and Køge .

The length of the railway network is approx. 170 km, 85 stations (of which 1 underground, 1 on the overpass). Every day, S-tog transports about 357 thousand passengers. The owner is DSB. The first line was opened in 1934.

The S-tog system is complemented by the Copenhagen Metro and an extensive network of bus routes. Inside central Copenhagen, the railway runs below ground level, but only one Nørreport station is completely underground.
