Robert Patrick, the eldest of five children, was born in Marietta , Georgia , into the family of Nadine and Robert Patrick Sr., a banker. His siblings are Richard (frontman of the industrial rock band Filter ), Cherie, Karen and Lewis. English and Scottish-Irish descent ^[3]

He spent his childhood in Way Village, Ohio . In 1977, he graduated from High Farmington School in Farmington, Michigan . He studied at Bowling Green State University, was fond of athletics and football, but he did not graduate; Then he became interested in acting ^[4] .

After college, he worked as a house painter until 1984, when an accident occurred on Lake Erie . He sailed on a boat with his brother Lewis and his friends, when suddenly the boat crashed on stones. They managed to escape with difficulty, and Robert himself almost drowned. After that, at the age of 26, he moved from Ohio to Los Angeles . In his early years in Los Angeles, he worked in a bar and lived in his car.

Career

Patrick's career began with small roles in low-budget films ^[4] . Prior to his role in the movie Terminator 2: Doomsday , which brought him success, Patrick starred in various television films. He also appeared in Die Hard 2 , in the short role of O'Reilly, a member of a terrorist organization.

In 1990, he auditioned for the role of the T-1000 robot in Terminator 2. James Cameron, the director of the film, said he chose Patrick for the role because of his appearance. This work was successful for Robert.

After “Terminator 2,” Patrick starred in various films, such as “ The Last Movie Hero ” (1993) (appeared in the cameo role of the T-1000 terminator from the movie “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”), “ Fire in the Sky ” (1993) and strip (1996).

Subsequently, Robert became interested in martial arts . He starred in two martial arts films Double Dragon and Hong Kong 97, released in 1994.

In 2000, Patrick appeared in three episodes of the television series " The Soprano Clan " in the role of David Skatino. Four years later, he appeared in pilot episodes of the television series Star Gate: Atlantis , Awakening , in two parts, in the role of US Army Colonel Marshall Sumner.

Patrick also played Johnny Cash's father in the movie “ Cross the Line ” and Elvis Presley's father, Vernon Presley in the miniseries “Elvis” ^[5] . In October 2006, he starred in the film " Marine ", in the role of Rome ^[6] . He also appeared in the movie " We Are One Team " as Rick Tolly. He also played a major role in the episode of the television series Lost , and the voice acting of Master Piandao in season 3 of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender.

He also appeared in the music video by Meath Lowe's “Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer than They Are” along with Will Estes ^[7] .

Personal life

During the filming of Terminator 2: Doomsday, Robert met actress Barbara Hooper. They subsequently got married. They have two children - a son, Samuel, and a daughter, Austin (named after the policeman who turned the T-1000 in the movie "Terminator 2").
