Stephanie Ann "Steffi" Jones ( German and eng. Stephanie Ann "Steffi" Jones ; December 22, 1972 , Frankfurt am Main , Hesse ) - former German football player , defender . Three -time European champion. She worked on the organizing committee of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 , which was held in Germany. She scored nine goals in 111 matches for the German national team between 1993 and 2007. [4] In March 2007, she resigned from the national team and in December 2007, announced her retirement from football to become the president of the organizing committee of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011 . Football career
Club career
Steffi started playing football at the age of four. From 1979 to 1986 she played in the mixed youth groups “ SV Bonames ” in Frankfurt . In 1986, she joined the girls of SG Praunheim and moved to the women's club team in 1988 . In 1991, she decided to go to FSV Frankfurt and changed teams almost every year until she started playing for FFK Frankfurt in 2000 . In 2002, she moved to Washington Freedom , where she played for two years in the women's league WUSA , before returning to Frankfurt , where she ended her career as a player on December 9, 2007 .
International Career
Since 1997, she won three European Championships in a row with the German team, won bronze medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and was part of the German national team, which won the 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup . She suffered a cruciate ligament rupture at an early stage of the tournament and did not play for half a year. In 2004, she won another Olympic bronze medal, this time in Athens . On March 26, 2007 , Jones announced the end of his international career.

Personal life
Jones, daughter of a German mother and an African American soldier stationed in then West Germany . Her father left the family when Steffi was very young and returned to the United States , so she was raised by a single mother in harsh conditions in Frankfurt . One brother, Christian, fights drug addiction, and the other brother, Frank, served as an American soldier in Iraq and lost both legs in an attack in 2006 [6] . Steffi has dual citizenship - German and American. In August 2007, Jones released the autobiographical book Der Kick des Lebens ( Beat of Life ) [7] . She is currently studying for a coaching license at the University of Sports Cologne .
