Heinrich Kurland

Heinrich of Courland ( German: Heinrich von Lützelburg ; d. February 8, 1274 ) - Bishop of the Semgalo Archbishopric from 1247 to 1251, in 1251–1263 Bishop of Courland and from 1263 to 1274 of Bishop Chiemsee .

Heinrich, whose year of birth is unknown, is from the Lutzelburg family. He was a member of the Franciscan Order. In December 1247, Pope Innocent IV was given to him by the Lebanese episcopacy Semgalia. After the elimination of the bishopric, which was annexed to the bishopric of Riga on March 3, 1251, the Courland bishopric was transferred to Henry. Together with Günter von Wüllersleben , the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order , he founded the Memelburg fortress.
