Embarcadero Technologies is an American company engaged in the development of software for creating database management tools and the databases themselves. The company was founded in October 1993 by Stefan Wong and Stuart Browning with the only Sybase DBMS administration product at that time . Now the company produces tools for administration, creation of databases and database applications for the following platforms: Oracle , Microsoft SQL Server , IBM DB2 , Sybase and MySQL .

Company History

In April 2000, Embarcadero Technologies launched an IPO on the NASDAQ . In November of that year, the company acquired GDPro (a solution development tool using UML ). In October 2005, Ambeo, a data protection company , was acquired. In July 2007, the company was fully acquired by the private investment fund Thoma Cressey Bravo ^[4] .

The company has offices in Toronto , Melbourne , Munich , Maidenhead ( Great Britain ), Spain, St. Petersburg ( Russia ).

On May 7, 2008, Borland Corporation announced the sale of its subsidiary CodeGear . CodeGear has been creating popular software development tools: Delphi, C ++ Builder and others. As a result, Embarcadero acquired CodeGear for $ 23 million and with an obligation to repay Borland's $ 7 million debt.
