Creation History
The development of the helicopter was launched in 2006 . The first flight took place in March 2010 . It is developed by the Indian national company HAL since 2006 . Some of the technologies used in it have already been tested on another Indian helicopter - Dhruv .
As part of the LCH certification, flight tests in cold conditions were conducted in February 2015 in the Leh district in Jammu and Kashmir [4] [5] . On September 3, 2015, flights were conducted there at an altitude of 3200 ... 4800 meters and take-off and landing at the airfield of the base on the Siachen Glacier [4] [5] . In mid-2016, missile launches are planned [4] [5] .
Design
The helicopter is made according to the classical scheme, with tandem crew accommodation. The cockpit and glazing of the helicopter is able to withstand hits of 12.7 mm armor-piercing bullets. The chassis is non-removable, energy-absorbing, for safety during emergency landing.
2 turboshaft engines TM333-2C2 "Shakti" with a digital control system such as FADEC, jointly developed by HAL and Turbomeka.
The main and tail rotors are 4-bladed. The blades are made of composite materials.
On-board equipment of pilots implements the principle of a glass cockpit, large multi-functional indicators are installed.
The helicopter armament consists of a sighting and sighting system located in the bow and a guided rotary gun of 20 mm caliber. Guided missiles can be mounted on 4 wing suspension points
The helicopter was designed specifically for fighting in the highlands, so strict requirements were imposed on the ceiling of the flight.
