Hughes Aircraft is an American military-industrial aircraft company founded in 1932 by Howard Hughes as a division of the Hughes Tool Company . The most famous Hughes Aircraft products are the Hughes H-4 Hercules (Spruce Goose) flying boat, the Galileo spacecraft for Jupiter research and the AIM-4 Falcon guided melee missile [1] .

In 1985, General Motors acquired the company from Howard Hughes Medical Institute . Hughes Aircraft becomes part of GM Hughes Electronics, now known as the DirecTV Group , until in 1997 GM sold it to Raytheon . [2]
