The boy on the eve of Bar Mitzvah

A young Jewish boy, Eliot Green, runs away from the synagogue, where he had to swear a bar mitzvah . This horrifies his middle-class parents, who have invested heavily in a luxurious party on the occasion of his majority. Looking at the world of adults, Eliot Green wonders if he can live in it.

The premiere took place on October 31, 1978 at Her Majesty's Theater, where the musical endured 78 performances. The roles were performed by: Barry Angel, Joyce Blair, Zila Clark , Leoni Cosman, Ray C. Davis, Gordon Faif, Ashley Knight, Benny Lee, Barry Martin, Vivien Martin, Harry Tovb and Peter Whitman. Studio CBS has released an album.

The Americanized version was created by Martin Gottfried transferred the action of the musical from 1970 to 1946, from Great Britain to Brooklyn, but the basis remained the same.

Off-Broadway production directed by Robert Kalfin, opened June 10, 1987 in the American Jewish Theater. The roles were performed by: Peter Smith, as Eliot, Larry Keif, Mary Gutzi, Mary Stout, Michael Cohn, Michael Callan, Eleonora Reise, Daniel Marcus, Kimberley Stern, Rubin Schafer.

January 26, 2007 in Chelsea Studios (New York) the recording of the album took place. Directed by Stafford Arima. Fafe Prince, Daniel Reichard and Peter Friedman participated in the recording.
