Career
Club
He began playing in 1956 in the Kupyansk children's team “Lokomotiv” as the central striker. The first coach is V. Mordakov. Since 1964, in the club team of Lysychansk.
He made his debut at the Shakhtar club (Kadievka) in 1966. He played for the Zarya teams Lugansk / Voroshilovgrad (1967-1978, 1981-1987), Zenit Leningrad (1979-1980).
He spent almost his entire professional career in the Voroshilovgrad Dawn , with which he went through all the ups and downs. He was a team leader. Sometimes performed 11-meter free kicks. It was considered one of the strongest goalkeepers of the 70s of the last century.
August 13, 1971 in the match "Dawn" - "Zenith" survived a clinical death . Tkachenko rushed forward to get the ball, but the Zenit player Vladimir Polyakov did not manage to slow down and, by inertia, hit him with a boot in the temple. He spent a day in the hospital unconscious and without movement for 60 days, but after the operation he returned to football [1] . Doctors advised him to end his career. Nevertheless, Tkachenko remained in football.
Held 4 games in the European Cup [2] .
Team
He spent one match for the USSR Olympic team (1971), three matches for the USSR national team (1972).
Coaching
At the end of his sports career, he worked as a trainer in the School of Sport and Sport “Zarya” (since 1985).
The head coach of the carriage builder club is 1991 (from June) - 1993 (to June).
He worked as a coach in the teams “Rostselmash” , “Torpedo-Metallurg” and others. Since July 2006 - coach of goalkeepers of the Luhansk “Dawn” .
Interesting Facts
In July 2018, the Post of Lugansk People’s Republic issued a stamp with a portrait of A. Tkachenko. The brand is included in the stamp block “Final of the World Cup” [3] .
