Program Development

On July 15, 2010, version 3.8 of the program with the support of the Traffic 2.0 system was released. This version supports “vector traffic jams” and situation forecasting based on accumulated statistics [6] .

On January 14, 2011, version 5.0 of the program was released [7] .

March 1, 2012 was released version 7.1 of the program for iPhone / iPad [8]

April 26, 2012 was released version of the program 7.2 for Android [9]

On December 26, 2012, a version of the program 7.7 for Android [10] was released, as the main changes - the appearance of full support for openGL and a redesigned voice prompt engine. January 5, 2013 released version 7.7 for iPhone / iPad.

May 17, 2013 released release 7.8 for Android [10] , as well as for Windows CE and Windows Mobile. The main changes in this version of the program were associated with faster work and bug fixes.

April 27, 2013 the program was updated to version 8.1. Major changes: support for cards from different manufacturers (CityGID, OSM, HERE), the Walkie-talkie service, the redesigned Friends service, the SOS service (calling a tow truck, taxi, technical assistance).

On October 13, 2014, version 8.2 was released. The changes affected the routing algorithms, power consumption reduction, radio chat functions, etc.

January 4, 2015 release 8.3 was released. The program has a voice search.

June 29, 2015 update 8.4 was released. A unique routing function has appeared in the program’s functionality, taking into account the time of arrival to bridges and railway crossings, which are bred / closed according to a schedule.

On June 6, 2017, release 9.7 was published. The main innovation of which is the display of attractions and stories and photographs.

In 2017, CityGUID 9.5 was awarded the inclusion in the review “Russian Software 2016: Innovations and Achievements” according to the PC Magazine computer edition.

  • after uninstallation, the program leaves all downloaded maps and files in the device’s memory

According to some [ who? ] users of the program and third-party experts who tested it, one of the main disadvantages of the program is the unfriendly and incomprehensible intuitive interface [6] [13] .
