The State Literary-Memorial Museum of N. A. Ostrovsky is a cultural and educational institution of the city of Sochi , Krasnodar Region , Russia .
Opened May 1, 1937 in memory of the famous Soviet writer Nikolai Ostrovsky . The museum occupies 1018 m² of area, has 550 m² of exhibition and exhibition space, more than 37 thousand museum items. In his collections: book rarities, household items, applied art of the late XIX - first half of the XX century, documents, iconography, numismatics of the Soviet era, painting, graphics (represented by the names of A. Ya. Kravchenko, E. Kibrika , S. Brodsky ).
The museum has three objects of display:
- Memorial House N. A. Ostrovsky. Built as a gift to the writer from the USSR government in 1935 (architect Ya. T. Kravchuk). Typical for the Sochi architecture of the 1930s; the true atmosphere of the Ostrovsky family; unique library; rare documents, photos.
- Literary part of the museum. The building was built in 1956 (architect I. D. Spirin). It houses an exposition on the literary history of Sochi, associated with the names of A. Odoyevsky , A. Bestuzhev-Marlinsky , E. Maikova , V. Dmitrieva , V. Mayakovsky , A. Serafimovich, M. Zoshchenko, V. Ibner, E. Schwarz.
- The museum constantly exhibits exhibitions of art from the collections of the central museums of Russia, the International Center of the Roerichs, private collections.
