Iroilaplap

Iroilaplap ( Marshall . Iroijlaplap ) - the title of paramount leaders in the Marshall Islands .

According to Article III of the Constitution of the Marshall Islands, this title is recognized on the islands and establishes the council of Iroi, which includes the members of Iroilaplap itself, as well as some other traditional leaders. The Council has the right "to consider any issues of interest to the Republic of the Marshall Islands , and may also express its opinion on any controversial issue in Parliament." The Council also has the right to a formal request for reconsideration of any bill in Nithiyela (legislative body of the Marshall Islands), which may relate to customary law, traditional practice, or land. ^[one]
