History
CAD cadwork was created between 1980 and 1987 by the CSEM (German) Center for Electronics and Microtechnology at the State Technical Institute in Lausanne ( Switzerland ) as part of the KWF research project, the purpose of which was the development and practical testing of software for construction applications from wooden structures.
After completing the research project in 1988, a joint-stock company was established with headquarters in Basel (Switzerland), which was engaged in the promotion of CAD cadwork as a commercial project. By 2007, 14 offices and branches were opened, companies in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France and the USA. [one]
Functionality
Cadwork has a modular structure, which allows you to shape the functionality of the system depending on the needs of developers. Part of the modules can be used separately, and part - only together with the main cadwork 3D module.
Independent modules:
- cadwork 2D - creation of design plans and photorealistic images,
- cadwork Rafter structures - creation of roof, wall and wooden structures.
Additional modules:
- cadwork Lamel - a computing module for the production of glued wood boards (integrated into cadwork 2D),
- cadwork Option - creating parts, target fragments of structures or structures according to specified parameters,
- cadwork Ladder - designing wooden stairs,
- Cadwork Building elements - breakdown of wall blocks into components,
- cadwork Specification - creating specifications,
- cadwork Machine - forming control programs for woodworking equipment based on drawing information,
- cadwork Spline - create arbitrary curved nodes.
Data exchange with other CAD systems is carried out using interfaces that support all popular formats, namely IGES , DXF / DWG , DTH, 3D-HLI and SAT.
