Biography
Born March 22, 1907 in the village of Ivankovo, Ryazan province [1] in a peasant family. Graduated from 6 classes.
In 1932 he moved to Moscow. He worked in various business positions.
In the Red Army in 1929 - 1932 and since July 1941 .
Member of the Great Patriotic War since August 1941 . He participated in the defense of Moscow and the winter counterattack near Moscow. In 1943 he graduated from junior lieutenant courses. Member of the CPSU since 1943.
Guards Lieutenant V. Kondakov distinguished himself especially when crossing the Dnieper River north of Kiev , in battles when capturing and holding a bridgehead in the area of the villages of Glebovka and Yasnogorodka ( Vyshgorod district of the Kiev region ) on the right bank of the Dnieper in the autumn of 1943. In an award presentation, the commander of the 212th Guards Rifle Regiment of the Guard, Colonel M. Borisov wrote [3] :
The Guard, Lieutenant Kondakov, commanding the 6th Rifle Company, showed himself to be a brave, decisive, knowledgeable commander. In battles for the village of Sukhin, a company of the Guard Lieutenant Kondakov entered the battle from the march and freed the village in a short time, destroying up to 200 enemy soldiers and officers. Comrade himself Kondakov, under hurricane fire of the enemy, led the company three times on the attack.
When crossing the Dnieper River and fighting for the village of Yasnogorodka, Kondakova was one of the first to force the Dnieper and engage in battle with the enemy, while crossing the Dnieper River, the platoon of the Guard of the Second Lieutenant Yarzhin, under the command of the Guard of Lieutenant Kondakov, captured the Nikolaev ship, a barge with military-engineering equipment , easel machine gun, mortar and two people from the team captured.
In the battle of 9/23/1943, when there was a clear superiority of the enemy and the enemy went on the counterattack of Comrade Kondakov decisively and courageously threw the enemy behind the village of Yasnogorodka.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 17, 1943, for successfully crossing the Dnieper River north of Kiev, firmly securing the bridgehead on the western bank of the Dnieper River and showing courage and heroism of the guard, Lieutenant Kondakov Vasily Yakovlevich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the medal “ The Golden Star ” [4] [5] .
Since 1946, the guard senior lieutenant V. Ya. Kondakov in stock. He lived and worked in administrative positions in the city of Moscow.
He died on February 25, 1956 . He was buried in Moscow at the Alekseevsky cemetery . [6]
