Cathedral of St. Anastasia ( Hor. Katedrala sv. Stošije ) - Catholic church in Zadar , the cathedral of the archdiocese of Zadar . The largest temple in Dalmatia , one of the seven Croatian cathedrals bearing the honorary title of “Small Basilica”. The Cathedral of St. Anastasia and the bishop's palace located next to it claim to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage List [1] .

The cathedral is located in the central part of the city on the site of the early Christian basilica of the IV century . After in the 9th century, the Zadar bishop received, as a gift from Emperor Nicephorus I, part of the relics of St. Anastasia the Solvers [2] , the church was consecrated in her honor. The modern building of the cathedral was built in the XII-XIII centuries in the Romanesque style. The still unfinished building of the cathedral was largely destroyed during the looting of Zadar by the Crusaders in 1202 . The whole XIII century was the restoration and completion of the church. The bell tower of the Cathedral of St. Anastasia later, was built in the XV-XVIII centuries.
The main shrine of the cathedral is a reliquary with the relics of St. Anastasia the Solvers . The altar is made in the Baroque style , in the late apses of the cathedral preserved murals of the XIII century. June 9, 2003 the cathedral was visited by Pope John Paul II .
