History
These lands were inhabited by the Hittites back in the 16th century BC. In the VI century BC e. the Persians came here, in 333 they were conquered by Alexander the Great. Subsequently, they became part of Rome , and then Byzantium . Later they were part of Cilician Armenia , then the Mamluks took possession of these lands, and as a result they became part of the Ottoman Empire .
