Biography
In 1933 she graduated from the Leningrad Choreographic School as a teacher, Agrippina Vaganova . In the final performance, she danced a French doll in the ballet “ Fairy of Dolls ”. Was accepted into the ballet troupe of the Leningrad Theater. Kirov . She danced in the performances of the classical repertoire. In 1951 she graduated from the theater department of the Leningrad Theater Institute. A. N. Ostrovsky .
She was married to the famous literary critic and theater critic David Zolotnitsky .
She has appeared in print as a ballet critic since 1941 . She has published over 100 articles on the development of modern choreography. Among them are reviews of stage ballet performances, articles on the work of leading choreographers, reviews of the Leningrad ballet seasons. Since 1950, Krasovskaya combines critical activity with research. The most important work of Vera Krasouskaya is the first in the history of art history fundamental history of Russian ballet. The school of professionalism received in Vaganova’s class and on the stage of the Mariinsky Theater, together with a high, aristocratic culture, encyclopedic knowledge, and brilliant language skills, allowed V. M. Krasovskaya to become a major art critic. Some of her works have been translated into English, German, Polish, Czech.
From the memoirs of Jacob Lipkovich ( Cleveland ):
“Of course, I knew for a long time that Vera Mikhailovna was one of the first experts in Russian and world ballet in the country, a ballet critic whose ballet theaters were listened to not only in Moscow, Leningrad, but also far abroad. Everything that can be said about ballet is said in her brilliant books. By the beginning of the eighties, she had written so much about ballet that even a special bibliographic index of Vera Mikhailovna’s works was published ... Although Vera Mikhailovna usually spoke sparingly about herself to us, her colleagues, we knew that she was born in St. Petersburg and studied at a ballet school at Vaganova, she graduated from a theater institute, danced for eight years at the Mariinsky Theater ... But what I was a professor, a doctor of art history, I only found out by chance by looking at the bibliographic reference “Writers of Leningrad” published in 1981. Her modesty, reluctance to talk about herself, unprepossessing and quiet kindness amazed, and still she was in sight. She was attracted to her female charm, a light, almost girlish walk, a smile that warmed the interlocutor and at the same time mockingly mocked him. I stared at her for a long time, the same, as always, light, elegant and beautiful ... In August, Vera Mikhailovna died. They buried her in the Stable Church, in the very one where Pushkin buried 162 years ago. A strange, definitely nonrandom twist of fate: only now many of Vera Mikhailovna's fans have learned that she is Anna Petrovna Kern’s great-granddaughter. And then her invisible meeting with Pushkin ... "
- Yakov Lipkovich [2]
In 1998, Vera Krasouskaya was awarded the Triumph Prize [3] . Actor Oleg Menshikov knelt before her and presented her with a bouquet of roses [4] .
