Biography
Arthur was born in 1874. Arthur Melbourne-Cooper made a great contribution to British cinema. One of his first films, “Appeal” (1899), was made by order of the parliament and spoke about the events of the Boer War . In 1900, he worked with Birt Akres . One of the first to create animation in his film "Dolly's Toys" (1901), after which he began to shoot cartoons. In 1904, he founded the company Alpha in his city and began to sign contracts with other studios. From 1904 to 1909, Cooper did experiments on puppet animation together with R.W. Paul . Among them are “The Enchanted Toy Master” (1904), “The Godmother Fairy” (1906), “ Dream about the Country of Toys ” (1908) and “The History of the Ark” (1909). After Paul in 1910, Arthur began making fairy-tale films. Among these fairy-tale films are Cinderella and the Wooden Athletes (1912) and The Dream of the Toy Master (1913). Alpha Studio became world famous and was renamed from Alpha Trading Company to Alpha Picture Palace . A section of the film studio began to cover an area of 2 acres and began to have a restaurant, hairdresser, shops and a sauna. In 1926, Melbourne-Cooper opened the Dance Palace. The structure was destroyed by fire in 1927, and all the films and cartoons of Melbourne-Cooper died. Arthur died in 1961.
