The first verses of the sura say that the prophet Yusuf (Joseph), because of the conspiracy of his brothers, fell into slavery to some merchants [1] . The Surah reports that stubbornness and envy can lead most people to unbelief. At the end of the surah, the previous messengers are indicated, how their peoples treated them and how they defeated sinful infidels in the end. The Almighty emphasized that in the history of these prophets is a reminder and instruction to those who have a sober mind. It is sent down in confirmation of the truth of the other, former Scriptures sent by Allah, and as a guide and mercy for those who understand, believe and learn from these stories.
A distinctive feature of this sura is that it contains the full story of Yusuf (Joseph) and shows that love and a special relationship to individual family members can arouse envy in others.
| Alif. Lamas. Ra. These are the verses of clear scripture. Verily, We sent him down in the form of the Qur'an in Arabic so that you can understand it. We tell you the most beautiful story, inspiring you with this Koran in revelation, although before you were one of those who did not know anything about it. Yusuf (Joseph) said to his father: “Oh my father! I saw eleven stars, the sun and the moon. I saw how they bowed to me.” He said: “Oh my son! Do not tell this dream to your brothers, or else they will plot evil against you. Verily, Satan is a clear enemy to man. Your Lord will choose you, teach you to interpret dreams, and bestow upon you the family of Yakub (Jacob) with perfect mercy, just as before He had given the perfect mercy to your fathers Ibrahim (Abraham) and Ishaac (Isaac). Verily, your Lord is the Knowing, the Wise. " |
