Pine sedge ( Latin: Carex oreophila ) is a perennial herb , a species of the genus Sedge ( Carex ) of the sedge family ( Cyperaceae ).

Botanical Description
A plant with creeping woody rhizome .
The stalk is trihedral furrowed, rough, 5–20 cm tall [2] , surrounded at the base by brownish-yellow (buffy) sheaths of leaves.
Leaves bristle-folded, rough, shorter than the stem.
Spikelet androgynous, oblong, (0.6) 0.7 [2] —1.5 cm long, with a wide 3-4 mm stamen part, equal in length to pistillate . Covering scales are obovate, obtuse, dark chestnut, shorter than sacs, not falling from the fruit. Pouches are flattened flat-convex, round-elliptic, 2.5-3.5 (4) mm long, webbed, with a rounded base, rusty, mature, slightly deviated from the spikelet axis, without veins , sessile, with a short short-toothed smooth nose . Stigma 2.
Fruit at the base with an axial appendage.
The view is described from the Caucasus .
Distribution
Caucasus: Greater Caucasus (upper Kuban , center and east), Klukhor Pass , South Ossetia , Georgia ( Lagodekhi environs), Karabakh , South Transcaucasia ; West Asia : Turkey , Northern Iran , Northern Iraq .
It grows in alpine meadows .
