Inflorescence

A plant with creeping rhizome .

The stems are trihedral, upward rough, 5–40 cm tall [2] .

Leaves 1-1.5 mm wide [2] , mostly folded, dull at the end, rough on the edge.

Spikelets androgynous, 0.7–1 cm long [2] , of 1-3 stamen flowers and 2–5 pistillate [2] , initially conical, then loose, with sacs bent downward. The scales are lanceolate, islet, pale rusty, shorter than the sacs, falling off with fruits . Pouches are almost rounded in cross section, narrow-lanceolate, 6-7 mm long, thin-skinned, flat-convex, with a rounded base, mature bent downward, with obscure veins , with a long whole conical nose, straw. Stigma 3.

Fruits in May-June. Fetus without axial appendage.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 76.

The view is described from Scotland ( Arran Island).

Northern Europe , including Arctic Scandinavia ; Atlantic and Central Europe ; The Baltic states ; The Arctic part of Russia: Murman ( Pechenga region, the lower reaches of the Kola , the southern part of the Kola Bay , the lower reaches of the Voron'ya and Yokanga rivers); European part of Russia : northern half, Northern Urals ; Belarus : the upper reaches of the Dnieper ; Ukraine : Carpathians , the middle part of the Dnieper basin (very rare); Western Siberia : southern part; Southeast Kazakhstan ; Eastern Siberia : basin of the upper reaches of the Yenisei , Baikal region , Aldan basin; Far East : Amur basin ( Kur river), Northern Sikhote-Alin , Kamchatka , northern Sakhalin , Kuril Islands [3] ; Central Asia : Dzhungar Alatau ( Myn-Chukur Range); East Asia : North of the Korean Peninsula , Hokkaido and Honshu ; North America : Alaska , Canada , Washington, and the northeastern United States .

Grows in sphagnum bogs ; on the plain and in the mountains to the subalpine zone .
