Football night is a football review broadcast on the NTV channel from March 15, 2007 to December 11, 2011. The program was also repeated on NTV-Plus sports channels. Leading at the time of closing - George Cherdantsev . The program showed short reviews of matches of the championship of Russia, goals of Russians playing in foreign championships. This program was the first program on football on the central television channel after the closure of the program “On Football with Viktor Gusev” in the fall of 2004 by Channel One. [2]

History
The program went on air from March 15, 2007. It was originally released on Thursdays after midnight and was called Our Football on NTV. The presenters were Anastasia Myskina , Dmitry Fedorov [3] and Vasily Utkin [4] . The program was released until December 2007 and was suspended due to the end of the championship and the subsequent departure of Anastasia Myskina and Dmitry Fedorov from NTV [5] .
In 2008, Dmitry Chukovsky announced that on the NTV channel there will be a review program on football called Football Night. The program leaders were replaced by Comedy Club resident Artashes Sargsyan and football commentator George Cherdantsev [6] . The premiere of the first issue in this format took place on March 16, 2008 [7] .
In 2007 and 2008, the program included extras. The program continues to appear in the genre of talk shows with invited guests [8] . In the center there was a bench on which the guest was sitting and Victoria Lopyreva - another host of the program [9] . During the European Championships, the program covered the matches of the tournament [10] and was shot in Austria and Switzerland. After Victoria Lopyreva left for The Last Hero [11] , the program, along with two presenters, was led by Stanislav Komarova [12] [13] . In October 2008, Miss Internet 2007 Anna Vishnevskaya became the co-host of this trio.
Before the start of the second season of the program, Dmitry Chukovsky announced that from now on there would be no girls in the frame [14] .
In 2009, extras and leading did not become [15] . In the center of the studio stood a chair on which guests sometimes sat. Sometimes the program was dedicated only to the guest. So it was when they invited Yuri Semin or Zico . This transfer option was presented by Tash Sargsyan and George Cherdantsev. The emphasis was placed on the central match of the tour [16] . The release time moved to the nighttime broadcasting grid after midnight [17] .
Late Version
In 2010, Football Night changed its design and moved to the 21st Ostankino studio, from which all studio programs on NTV Plus sports channels usually came out. Running lines appeared (the top with football news and the bottom with the results of matches of the next round of the Russian championship with the authors of goals scored). Tash Sargsyan led the program from the main studio, Georgy Cherdantsev from another (in the first issue it was the other way around). There was a heading “Three news about football.” It talked about the most talked about news in BarChat on the fan.ru social network. There was a humorous heading “Non-standard position”.
In 2011, Football Night again changed the format. All entertainment sections were closed, Sargsyan left the program, as he became editor-in-chief of Total Football magazine. Cherdantsev runs a program from the main studio, NTV-Plus commentators come to the small studio, who analyze together with Cherdantsev the matches of the Premier League and Russian clubs in European competition.
The last release of the program was released on December 11, 2011, after which the program ceased to exist for unknown reasons. Among the possible reasons for the closure, its low ratings were mentioned [18] . After the transfer of the main package of broadcasting rights to Liga-TV, the resumption of Football Night or the creation of any other television project was not considered instead [19] .
Criticism
Arkady Ratner, a famous Soviet sports commentator and columnist for Radio Liberty, noted that, despite the fact that when the program was launched, it was stated as a project where serious people would discuss the topical issues of Russian football, they didn’t even pretend to be serious and analytical in nature [20] :
It doesn’t smell like analytics, rather an entertaining transmission of a low base. Of course, sharp moments were shown, they tried to discuss them, but, despite Cherdantsev’s heroic attempts to bring them into a reasonable direction, what was happening in the studio was more like a classic Odessa market. What is the most memorable thing? A very beautiful woman, presented as the co-host of the program, not fully dressed, who from time to time with a high-heeled shoe tried to make some kind of manipulation with a soccer ball [21] ...
